Concept 2012 Via Character, a free online magazine you can see exactly what these talented and stylish ladies are up to... what they can do for you ... a whole lot of eye-candy that is sure... Their latest project was working on a new cook book for Laurent Med Khellout from Nomadic Algerian restaurant, Rainarai in Amsterdam... Or did you see the cover of EST magazine ... yes that what AnoukB And Marjon created too... I absolutely sure we will see so much from these ladies in the year to come... Do you like their work too? Spruce Up an Old Toaster

Isabelle of Dos Family had a toaster she hated. It was her husband's, from before they met. So the other day, she gave her daughter some adhesive foil, had her draw on the back, and then she cut out the designs and put them on the toaster.

Voila! Instant toaster transformation, from dowdy to awesome. It's great, because she resisted throwing away a perfectly useful toaster, and in time, she found a way to keep it and love it.

Creador de un universo propio, un derroche de imaginación (frase hecha, la imaginación nunca se derrocha, todo lo contrario). My dear robot

When I was child, one of my dream was to have a robot all for me. I longed indeed for having a robot able to do whatever I disliked to do, such as, for instance, to tidy up my room, do my homework, to listen to mum while giving me a lecture, and even to eat vegetables... a kind of little unaware slave, willing to kindly help me in every occasion.

Hopefully, I put aside this slave attitude growing up; yet I've kept a geek vocation linked to robots. I am convinced that robots are one of representation of what I love in human being: that's the Promethean attitude to create through ingeniousness devices with which to overcome physical limits. As in the funny cartoon here above, "Bimbo in the robot", in which the weedy Bimbo is able, thanks to its personal robot, to lick the enormous and unfair Mike for the hand of his beloved! This funny story came from the ingeniousness of the mythic Max Fleischer, the father of Popeye, Betty Boop, and, off course, of Bimbo.

Thus, while I was remembering during these last days to this childish desire of mine, I took decision to carve a special stamp set dedicated to this little mechanical friend; some fabric hand stamped using this set became afterward a geekery pencil case... I hope you like them, they are on my etsy!

Souvenir Foto School: Day 10 - Q for Quince

Today I got to knock a really tough letter off my assignment list for Souvenir Foto School by photographing one of my favorite things: Quince Blossoms! Double win - woohoo!

I was in my early twenties and living in California when I discovered quince for the first time. I remember it so clearly (is that weird). On that providential late-Winter day, I decided that it was just warm enough to head out with my daughter for a walk. I bundled her up in her stroller and we set off. The little circle of a neighborhood that we lived in was called Garden Farms (and aptly so for all the small orchards and beautiful gardens that everyone seemed to have on their property). Anyhow we strolled along, my daughter babbling to herself and me noticing (with disappointment) very little growth or signs of the coming Spring. But then we rounded the final bend on our way back home, and spotted amidst all the grey a row of the most deliciously pink flowering bushes that I had ever seen. Quince!

Of course I didn't know what they were called then, but we must have gone on walks just to view those brilliant blossoms every day until they were gone and replaced by Springtime itself. To this day when I see Quince I am filled with a bright hopefulness for the warming months ahead. Hooray! xo Ez

Project: Love Transfusion Valentine

Everybody loves to be loved. What if that love could be injected? Taking inspiration from an IV bag, I went looking around the house and took a trip to the local super market to find all of the supplies I needed. So if you have a relationship that needs mending, seize the opportunity this Valentine's Day by sending this fun & simple Love Transfusion valentine!

Materials

Template PDF See below.
Inkjet sticker paper
Hubba Bubba Squeeze Pop or equivalent liquid lollipop
FoodSaver 8" bags, found at Target
FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer or equivalent vacuum sealer
Scissors
Hole punch
Aquarium tubing
Clear tape

Right click to save the PDF to your desktop. Directions on downloading PDFs.

Directions

Step 1: Print the sticker using the downloadable PDF template above.

Step 2: Leaving the cap on, cut off the end of the Hubba Bubba Squeeze Pop. Squeeze the contents into the far right corner of the 8" bag.

Step 3: Following the instructions included with your heat sealer, seal the top of the 8" bag. Once the liquid lollipop is sealed and secure, turn the bag horizontally and seal the 8" bag in half.

Step 3: Trim the excess bag material and punch a hole in the top of the bag. Attach the aquarium tubing with clear tape to the end of the bag, making sure to cut one end of the tubing at an angle.

Step 4: Apply the sticker and fill in the applicable "patient" and "donor" information.

Step 5: Enjoy your patient's reaction to this fun & unconventional valentine!

Sopa de champiñones

Esta receta es típica de mi madre. Me encantan las sopas en general pero este consomé en concreto me parece lo más delicioso para tomar en días fríos de invierno.

Ingredientes (4 personas):

1 puerro
2 zanahorias
1/2 cebolla
1/2 col
1 litro y medio de agua
8 champiñones
2 dientes de ajo
Aceite de oliva virgen extra
Vino blanco
Sal
Pimienta negra

Primero debemos preparar un caldo de verduras con el puerro, las zanahorias, la media cebolla y la media col. Yo siempre hago el caldo en la olla a presión: 20 minutos y está hecho.

Una vez tengamos el caldo preparado laminamos el ajo y lo freímos en una olla con un buen chorro de aceite. Cuando empiece a coger color, añadimos los champiñones cortados en trocitos, no demasiado pequeños, y los salteamos con sal y pimienta. Antes de que empiecen a dorarse, agregamos el caldo, lo salamos y dejamos que hierva cinco minutos, apagamos y dejamos que repose.

Es otro de esos platos que podemos tener preparados en la nevera, para calentar y servir cuando nos apetezca.

Teniendo en cuenta que a medida que se enfría gana en sabor, no tengáis demasiada prisa en tomarosla... ¡rapidillos!
