Venus y Urano muy cerca en el cielo del atardecer

Aprovechando que hoy es sábado, si las nubes te lo permiten y tienes unos prismáticos a mano sal un rato antes de que anochezca del todo, mira hacia el oeste, y localiza Venus.

Esto debería ser muy fácil, pues será con diferencia el astro más brillante que puedas ver a esas horas.

Lo que viene ahora es un poco más complicado y depende de la contaminación lumínica, de que no haya mucha bruma, etc, pero un poco abajo y a la derecha (si miras desde el hemisferio norte) de Venus está Urano, que quizás puedas ver como un punto azulado con unos prismáticos.

Eso sí, si es posible usa un trípode para sostenerlos, te facilitará mucho la observación.

Una buena hora es alrededor de las ocho de la tarde, pues ya no queda apenas luz en el cielo, pero es que si esperas mucho más, Venus y Urano se pondrán o bien te los tapará algún edificio.

Hoy los dos planetas están separados unos dos grados, un poco más que el ancho de un dedo con el brazo extenido, o cuatro veces el tamaño de la Luna vista desde la Tierra, distancia que irá aumentando según pasen los días, con lo que dejará de ser posible verlos juntos a través de los prismáticos, aunque aun podrás utilizar Venus como punto de referencia, pues Urano seguirá estando abajo y a la derecha.

No lo digo yo, lo dice la noticia W3C co-chair: Apple, Google power causing Open Web crisis, que salió ayer publicada en CNET. El resumen de la noticia dice:

The dominance of Apple and Google mobile browsers is leading to a situation that's even worse for Web programming than the former dominance of Internet Explorer, a standards group leader warned today.

Traducido al castellano:

El dominio de Apple y Google en el mercado de los navegadores para móviles está llevando a una situación que es aún peor para la programación web que con el antiguo dominio de Internet Explorer, un líder del grupo de estandarización advirtió hoy.

El problema que se explica en este artículo es que muchos programadores web se están centrando en los navegadores de Apple y Google, ambos basados en WebKit, y por contra, se están olvidando de los navegadores Firefox, Internet Explorer y Opera. Esto está ocurriendo porque los navegadores de Apple (Safari) y de Google (Chrome) son los mayoritarios entre los dispositivos móviles (teléfonos), que es el segmento de dispositivos con conexión a Internet que más está creciendo en los últimos años.

Muchos programadores web emplean propiedades de CSS específicas para estos dos navegadores. Estas propiedades, que comienzan con el prefijo -webkit, puede ser que ya estén estandarizadas o que estén camino de serlo y, por tanto, que sean compatibles con otros navegadores. Pero al anteponer el prefijo específico del vendedor, sólo funcionan en el navegador especificado.

Esto es un completo error, y se debe evitar utilizar las propiedades de CSS específicas de un vendedor. Pero si por alguna razón es imprescindible su uso, entonces lo más conveniente es emplear la propiedad sin el prefijo (para que el CSS sea compatible con las futuras versiones de los navegadores) y con el prefijo de los navegadores más populares, para que sea compatible con los navegadores actuales.

Por ejemplo, si se quiere emplear la nueva propiedad transform de CSS3, lo correcto es:

Este artículo se publicó originalmente en La Voz de Galicia, donde colaboramos semanalmente; esta es la versión con enlaces.

Sobre el papel el Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, o Acuerdo Comercial Anti-Falsificación, tiene como objetivo luchar contra el tráfico y la venta de falsificaciones de todo tipo, incluyendo la vulneración de derechos de autor a través de Internet.

Pero su proceso de negociación, iniciado oficialmente en 2008 cuando Australia, México, Nueva Zelanda, la República de Corea, y Singapur se unieron a las charlas que venían manteniendo sobre el tema los Estados Unidos y Japón, países que fueron los primeros en ponerse a desarrollar el tratado, Suiza y la Unión Europea, ha sido enormemente polémico porque el contenido del tratado se ha intentado mantener en secreto por todos los medios posibles.

De hecho, sólo mediante filtraciones se fueron conociendo aspectos como que pretendía incluir, entre otras cosas, la obligación para los países firmantes de instaurar políticas de corte del acceso a Internet de aquellos que se descargaran contenidos sometidos a derechos de autor.

De todos modos, cuando en abril de 2010 se hizo por fin público de manera oficial el borrador del tratado resultó que los años de protestas habían limado bastante sus dientes y que al final, al menos en el aspecto que atañe a Internet, no era tan malo como las filtraciones iniciales auguraban.

En concreto, el texto del tratado (PDF 254 KB) no obliga a nada a los países firmantes en cuanto al tipo de medidas a aplicar contra aquellos que se descarguen contenidos sometidos a derechos de autor, y además pide expresamente que las medidas a aplicar conserven principios fundamentales como la libertad de expresión, el derecho a un proceso justo, y la privacidad.

Pero también es cierto que todo dependerá de cómo los respectivos gobiernos decidan trasponerla en sus leyes nacionales si se aprueba.

Aún así, hay otros aspectos del tratado que siguen siendo preocupantes, y hay convocadas para mañana manifestaciones de protesta a lo largo y ancho de toda Europa para evitar que la Unión Europea ratifique el tratado el próximo mes de junio, aún cuando 22 de sus miembros, España incluida, ya lo han firmado.

Y es que no parece muy normal que un tratado que puede afectar a cientos de millones de ciudadanos se pueda negociar de espaldas a estos si no hay nada que ocultar.

Sí, han pasado 41 días desde que empezamos el año ¿recuerdas el entusiasmo y optimismo del primer día? ¿aún tienes la lista de propósitos? o ¿a estas alturas has vuelto a caer en la rutina? quizás aún estas tomando con calma las cosas porque sólo ha pasado un mes, sólo han pasado 41 días y pronto tomarás el ritmo para hacerlo. Resulta que esta pasividad o falta de decisión/dedicación es lo que en ocasiones simplemente sabotea lo que deseamos lograr ¿quieres evaluar lo que hasta el momento has logrado?

Quizás dirás -vamos han pasado sólo 41 días no exageres- pero piensa por un momento todas las cosas que son posibles en 41 días. Es el tiempo suficiente que con 1 hora de entreno puedes terminar una carrera de 10K y adoptar una rutina de ejercicio. Con 41 días puedes dedicarle 1 hora diaria a terminar tu portafolio de trabajo. Con ese tiempo, puedes leerte un libro de 500 páginas dedicando 30 minutos al día. Las posibilidades de aprovechar ese tiempo son muchas ¿qué has logrado entonces concretar en estos 41 días?

¿Cuál es la esencia de tu ser?

Una persona me preguntó ¿cómo lograr la disciplina? yo pienso que es cuestión de crear un hábito. Siguió cuestionando y me decía “¿pero qué te lleva al hábito?” le respondí -es la voluntad- pero su duda era “¿qué sostiene tu voluntad y te empuja al hábito?” y sólo pude responder desde mi experiencia - lo que sostiene mi voluntad es mi fuerza interna, lo que soy, esa esencia de mi ser-.

Pongamonos un poco existencialistas y reflexionemos sobre nosotros mismos. Evaluemos nuestras fortalezas, habilidades y buenos hábitos que nos constituyen. Pensemos en cuanto nos afectan nuestras debilidades, temores y limitaciones. Visualicemos nuestros logros y fracasos, nuestros sueños y propósitos. Esto es lo que somos y sólo nosotros sabemos lo fácil o difícil que resulta llegar a donde queremos llegar. Piensa en ¿qué te mueve? ¿qué te apasiona?¿cuál es tu esencia?

Ahora que estas con eso en mente, evalúa ¿qué has logrado estos 41 días del año? ¿algunas cosas? ¿muchas cosas?¿tus primeros 2 propósitos? ¿nada en realidad? la idea es que no sigas perdiendo más tiempo, ni caigas a la rutina de siempre, que tomes impulso y sobre todo compromiso con lo que tu mismo te prometiste hacer. De igual forma, si han pasado 41 días y vas viento en popa logrando las cosas propuestas es de reconocerlo, felicitarte a ti mismo y seguir tu paso.

La mejora forma de celebrar la libertad es cuando decidimos hacer las cosas por nosotros mismos, sin excusas y con mucho compromiso.Vamos ánimo, no desmayes, tu puedes hacer de este año algo extraordinario, construir buenos recuerdos, alcanzar tus metas y evolucionar como ser humano. Hace un tiempo recorrió las redes sociales como un hallazgo, remitiendo al popular video de Noah, estos muchachos han recorrido once países en cuarenta y cuatro días, recorriendo un total de treinta y ocho mil millas y capturando cerca de 3 teras de material grabado.

El resultado se muestra en tres montages de videos cortos bajo las premisas: Move, Eat y Learn. Una tarea excelsa, que nos permite echar un vistazo a una gran cantidad de culturas, espacios y actividades diferentes, propias de cada lugar que han visitado.

Los videos son muy cortos, pero han implicado un gran trabajo de video montage para llevarlos a la casi perfección. Los realizadores de estas obras son Rick Mereki, director, productor, segunda cámara y edición; Tim White, análisis de datos, productor, edición principal y sonido; Andrew Lees: actor.

Son para ver una y otra vez, e intentar encontrar aquellas capturas características de nuestros países, en mi caso he descubierto algunas, pero estoy segura de que he pasado imágenes por alto, ya que tienen un ritmo vertiginoso, como asumo fue el viaje que realizaron. Quién mucho abarca poco aprieta, pero la idea (conceptual de momento) es chula como tal -poco práctica en la realidad, seguro: el Lifebook de Prashant Chandra en Yanko Design, es el frankenstein de los gadgets, combinando individualmente un tablet, un teléfono móvil, una cámara de fotos y que –cuando no está despiezado– también sirve como ordenador portátil... con teclado táctil.

Esto es un poco como los códigos para hacer trampas en los videojuegos pulsando «Arriba-Arriba-Abajo-Fuego mientras mantienes apretado Start con A y B a la vez»… Lo han publicado en Wired con el curioso título Prepare for Liftoff With Automotive Cheat Codes. El primero de los trucos / «características poco conocidas» sirve para poner en «modo lanzamiento» a un Lexus LFA y que salga disparado al acelerar a máxima potencia – el concepto mola, tal y como demuestran los de Top Gear en sus programas al hacer las pruebas; es relativamente habitual en los superdeportivos de hoy en día.

Los otros dos trucos son uno para desactivar el molesto e histérico ruidito beep, beep, beep de la marcha atrás de los Toyota Prius, y otro para acceder a la pantalla de diagnóstico del dinamómetro de los Mercedes-Benz Clase C. [Nota: tal y como está publicado ahora mismo en Wired los trucos 2 y 3 tienen el texto mal, intercambiados por error].

Ahora bien: como la mayor parte de estos «trucos» activan y desactivan sistemas casi vitales para la conducción segura, como el control de estabilidad ESP o el acelerador, lo que recomiendan es sencillamente no probarlos – aunque también dicen que algunos vienen explicados en el manual. ¿Manual? Si, eso que nadie se lee cuando compra un coche, a menos que sea alguien rematadamente geek.

Así que ya sabéis: si sois los afortunados propietarios de uno de estos ordenadores con ruedas también llamados «coches modernos» podéis hackearlos un poco, pero quedáis advertidos, niños.
